KA Takshaka started operating on September 19, 1999 to serve corridor pemerjalan Yogyakarta-Jakarta. Takshaka is another name of a great serpent / dragon in the story puppet kind and protector, that serve as a symbol of reliability of rail services.
Travel as far as 517 km traveled in less than 8 hours and only stopped at the station Kutoarjo, Navan and Cirebon.
To meet customer demand on October 17, 2001 launched KA Takshaka II which offers day trips from Yogyakarta to Jakarta and at night from the opposite direction, so that since then there are two options laternatif Takshaka railway journey in the afternoon and evening of the Yogyakarta-Gambir Station or vice versa.
Takshaka KA series consists of eight executive class trains and has a capacity of 416 seats.
